The Consumer Justice Foundation is a for profit organization that is dedicated to providing educational resources and an effective voice for consumers that were injured, wronged or feel big business is pushing them around. Our goal is to shed light on special interest groups, big businesses and politicians who unfairly control how average citizens lead their everyday lives. The Consumer Justice Foundation is not a law firm and it is not run by lawyers or attorneys nor is it a website funded by a large corporation. We are everyday people just like you.
We are creating this vast public resource of topics to both educate consumers and to confront the big corporations about their policies. Education is important and it is our belief that insurance companies, drug manufacturers and automobile manufacturers often calculate certain aspects of their business based on the public being uneducated about existing rules, regulations, and standards. Unfortunately, important life-changing events, such as defective tire blowouts and dangerous side effects, which often result from negligent business practices like insufficient product testing, can significantly affect consumers. People have the right to an accurate informational resource when they are involved in car accidents, become victims of a doctor’s mistake, or experience life changing side effects of an FDA approved drug. If they are not educated on their rights, they could be taken advantage of by big business and our goal is stop this tragedy from occurring.
Stefan Rest has been involved in consumer advocacy since 2001 and before, and his passion for protecting the rights of others carries over to every aspect of his life. The proud parents of two children under the age of six, Stefan and his wife currently reside in Puerto Rico, where they moved from California to start a family and enjoy new adventures together. Stefan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2001, and in the years since, has concentrated his efforts on consumer advocacy and the Consumer Justice Foundation. When he’s not busy defending the rights of consumers, you can find Stefan surfing, freediving, spending time with his family, and raising their lively flock of chickens.
Back when he was a kid, there was nothing Jason Wiginton loved more than helping his mom out around the house, whether it involved cooking, cleaning, baking, or pulling weeds in the back yard – he did it all. When he reached adulthood, Jason still had that same urge to help people in need, which is what led him to start taking medical classes and then eventually travel the world, meeting new people and doing what he could to help along the way. During a backpacking trip through Mexico, Jason met Marlene, and after traveling together across several continents, the two were married and had their first child, a little boy. Working with the Consumer Justice Foundation, protecting the rights of consumers and giving them the voice they need to stand up for themselves, is a dream come true for Jason. And what’s more, it’s something he knows will make his family proud.
