A growing number of GranuFlo and NaturaLyte lawsuits are being filed against Fresenius Medical Care over side effects allegedly linked to the company’s controversial dialysis drugs, and a new report indicates that more than 2,100 of the 2,500 total claims currently pending in federal courts involve wrongful death claims over fatal dialysis complications. If you have suffered injuries from GranuFlo or NaturaLyte, or if you lost a loved one to a fatal side effect of dialysis treatment, our consumer advocates at the Consumer Justice Foundation can help. We are dedicated to protecting the rights of consumers harmed by dangerous drugs, and can help put you in touch with a product liability lawyer who has experience handling NaturaLyte and GranuFlo injury claims.
All of the wrongful death lawsuits filed against Fresenius stem from a NaturaLyte and GranuFlo recall that was issued in 2012, after it was discovered that a higher-than-expected number of dialysis patients treated with GranuFlo or NaturaLyte solutions were suffering from sudden cardiac death during or shortly after treatment. In the year following the recall, GranuFlo and NaturaLyte complaints filed in federal courts across the country were centralized before U.S. District Judge Douglas P. Woodlock in the District of Massachusetts for coordinated pretrial proceedings as part of a multidistrict litigation (MDL), since they all involved allegations that Fresenius failed to provide adequate warnings about the alleged side effects of GranuFlo and NaturaLyte.
According to a report issued by Fresenius Medical Care on December 18, there are at least 2,217 NaturaLyte and GranuFlo lawsuits currently pending in the federal MDL, involving 2,526 different plaintiffs. Of those plaintiffs, 2,136 allege that the use of GranuFlo or NaturaLyte solutions during dialysis treatment resulted in death, while the remaining plaintiffs are pursuing claims for non-fatal injuries. If you underwent hemodialysis treatment with GranuFlo or NaturaLyte, and you have since suffered a heart attack, cardiac arrest or another serious injury, contact a reputable GranuFlo attorney today for legal help. You may have grounds to file a product liability lawsuit against Fresenius, in order to seek fair and timely reimbursement for your injuries and medical bills.
