A Virginia man has filed a product liability lawsuit against the makers of AndroGel, alleging that side effects of the testosterone therapy drug caused him to suffer three severe cardiovascular events, including a heart attack, a stroke and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The AndroGel suit was filed by Everett Mitchell and his wife Kaye, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on March 12, and alleges that AbbVie failed to provide adequate warnings about the risk of side effects from its controversial testosterone gel. If you used a low-T drug like AndroGel in the past, and you have since suffered a heart attack or another serious cardiovascular injury, contact a reputable testosterone therapy lawyer for legal help.
According to Everett Mitchell, he began using AndroGel in 2007, and despite having no prior history of blood clots or heart problems, the 79-year-old suffered a heart attack in 2010, following by deep vein thrombosis and a stroke in 2013, all while using the testosterone gel. In his product liability lawsuit, Mitchell claims that all three cardiovascular events were caused by his use of AndroGel, and indicates that he continues to experience debilitating cardiovascular impairment, which has led to physical and mental trauma, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of earnings, economic loss, costly medical bills, and the need for consistent medical monitoring.
Mitchell’s AndroGel complaint joins hundreds of lawsuits filed over heart problems from testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), which research has shown may put men at an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and other potentially life-threatening cardiovascular events. All of the testosterone therapy lawsuits filed in federal courts across the country have been consolidated in the Northern District of Illinois for coordinate pretrial proceedings as part of a multidistrict litigation (MDL), and involve similar allegations that AndroGel and other low-T products caused men to suffer heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis, and other serious heart problems.
As more information comes to light about the potential risk of side effects from testosterone drugs like AndroGel, a growing number of TRT lawsuits are being filed on behalf of men across the country who have suffered heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems while using the drugs.
